OYOY HOMES
A Family Home in Italy

In this edition of OYOY Homes, we visit a serene, thoughtfully curated family home in Italy—where every detail tells a story, and inspiration flows from the little things in life.

After moving to Italy, our featured homeowner Mimi, embraced a slower, more mindful approach to daily living. “I’ve learned to find inspiration in the smallest things,” she shares. “A sink full of espresso cups at my favorite barista’s, or the sunlight catching dust in the air. These seemingly insignificant moments carry deeper meaning for me.”

Her home reflects this poetic sensibility—an ever-evolving space guided by curiosity and the joy of observation. “Decorating is part of my inner state of play. I’m always in it, sometimes more, sometimes less.”

Family Rituals and
Lasting Impressions

Her approach to home life is deeply rooted in childhood memories. Growing up surrounded by books and beautifully set dinner tables has shaped her own rituals today. “My mom loved setting the table—it was her thing. Now I do the same. We set the table every evening, and I really cherish those little daily moments of togetherness.”Books also remain a constant: “I grew up in a home filled with them, and now mine is too.”

A Blend of Old and New

With a mix of new designs, vintage finds, and recycled elements, her interior feels layered and personal. “I love blending old and new—it creates such a unique atmosphere. It feels like home when things carry both memory and modernity.”

The home’s color palette is a calming mix of browns, greys, steel tones, and whites. But it’s the thoughtful pops of color that elevate the space—accents of deep forest green and rich blues soften the minimalism and add warmth.

“I think green and blue look especially beautiful against dark wool and wooden textures,” she explains. “There’s a quiet harmony in how they all come together.”
